ABOUT BluGlass - The company
![]()
Founded in June 2005 as a result of research conducted at Macquarie University and floated in August 2006 on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX : BLG), BluGlass has identified the potential for considerable savings through our technology by demonstrating the growth of group III nitrides, such as gallium nitride (GaN) at lower temperatures, on cheaper substrates such as glass and with the potential for greater production scalability. By using our equipment and process to deposit these semiconductor materials, electronic manufacturers can produce less costly devices such as light emitting diodes (LEDs) and in a more environmentally sensitive way.
In 2009, BluGlass established a wholly owned subsidiary BluSolar Pty Ltd to explore the potential of high efficiency nitride based solar cells. Based on the emerging solar material indium gallium nitride (InGaN), research suggests that InGaN solar cells have the potential to convert almost the full spectrum of sunlight to electrical current. InGaN solar cells, if successful promise to be long lasting, relatively inexpensive and importantly, the most efficient ever created. BluGlass will be looking to demonstrate this proof of principle using its RPCVD technology.
With the commissioning of our state-of-the-art facilities, BluGlass seeks to demonstrate the commercial capability and versatility of the RPCVD technology to semiconductor manufacturers and supply RPCVD deposition equipment.
