BluGlass' lab is a state-of-the-art film growth and characterisation facility. Device fabrication facilities are also being established.
The lab houses a unique, world class RPCVD system, jointly owned by Macquarie University and built with the support of AusIndustry and the Australian Research Council. In addition there are many other pieces of material analysis and performance characterisation equipment that are helping BluGlass scientists advance the technology.
The team is focused on demonstrating LEDs from gallium nitride crystals grown by BluGlass using a technique relatively new to the field, remote plasma chemical vapour deposition (RPCVD). The main aim is to show that gallium nitride LEDs of reasonable quality can be grown and fabricated from material grown by the RPCVD technique.
