Dr. William Johnson is a seasoned CEO with extensive business development, M&A, technological leadership, and hands-on leadership roles in operations ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 high technology companies.

Over the years, Bill has held top management positions with high technology companies including Ulvac Corp., Varian Associates, Intevac Inc., Oryx Instruments and Materials Corp., and Therma-Wave, Inc. From 2003-2008, he was founder and managing director of Crane Ridge Associates, providing consulting and M&A guidance to high tech clientele.


In 2007 on behalf of Sumitomo Precision Products (SPP), he led the acquisition of assets of Aviza Technology and integrated them with an existing SPP subsidiary, Surface Technology Systems, thereby forming SPTS Technologies, a manufacturer of capital equipment for the semiconductor and related micro-device industries. Serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of SPTS, he orchestrated the 2011 management buy-out of SPTS and the 2014 sale to Orbotech Technologies.

Bill recognized the strategic potential of BluGlass in 2010, and had SPTS acquire a cornerstone investment in the company and form a JV with BluGlass to solidify the plasma basis of the RPCVD process. Since 2010 he has served as a non-executive director.

Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer

B.A. (Hons), MBA, FAICD

Giles is a senior executive with over 20 years of international business development experience gained in the clean-tech, technology and manufacturing sectors. He is a specialist in developing offshore business opportunities, securing inward expansion investment, setting up domestic and international partnerships, JV's and licensing deals for Australian corporations.

Giles' focus at BluGlass is to provide leadership as well as developing sales and marketing structures to support the commercialisation of BluGlass' LED and solar technology.

During his time at BluGlass, Giles has lead the team to secure a strategic partnership with global semiconductor equipment company SPTS Technologies, secured more than $25M in Government and Private Investment and supported the technology team to its proof of concept milestone.


In 2014 Giles was invited to be part of the Judging Panel of the prestigious Australian Technologies Competition (, Australia's premier technology acceleration program and an initiative supported by the Australian Federal government. . Giles has been a member of the panel for the past three years.

Giles holds 2,084,566 shares in BluGlass.


Non Executive Director

MS-EE, BSc-Elec

Vivek Rao is a semiconductor capital equipment specialist with more than 21 years experience in the global industry. 


Vivek has held a number of technology leadership and mangerial roles in the industry in the UK and Silicon Valley, and  is presently the Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of SPT Micro-technologies. He is also the Managing Director of international subsidiaries in Germany, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia for SPT Micro-technologies a division of Sumitomo Precision Products .


Prior to his current role, Vivek was the Vice President and General Manager of Thermal Products Division of SPTS Technologies and formerly the Vice President of Product Management – products included batch furnaces, APCVD and single wafer Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) system for Aviza Technology.


Vivek has published two technical papers and been awarded a patent in the area of device fabrication.


Non Executive Director


James Walker is a seasoned executive, with a track record in successfully commercialising cutting-edge technology in emerging global markets. 


He has headed a number of Australian and international technology companies, including as Chief Executive Officer of DroneShield (ASX:DRO), Chief Financial Officer of Seeing Machines (AIM: SEE) and held leadership positions in a number of growth companies including Hotel Dynamics, Fluorotechnics and Optalert.

James is an entrepreneurial and passionate business executive who thrives on commercialising technology and building new global markets. He brings a wealth of  experience to the BluGlass Board with over twenty years’ executive and board experience, where he has built and scaled-up businesses across a wide range of global technology industries; from enterprise software, mining technology services, automotive, aviation, biotechnology, drone detection and security sectors.


His strong finance, strategic management, M&A and IPO experience will add significant value to the BluGlass Board. 


Non Executive Director


Mr Wilks is a professional company Director, with a long record leading successful global technology companies in high growth and disruptive industries. He has headed several Australian and international technology companies as Regional Director (Asia & Japan) – Regulatory Affairs for BT Asia Pacific, Managing Director of XYZed Pty Ltd (an Optus company), Chief Operating Officer of both Nextgen Networks and Personal Broadband Australia, and as Consulting Director of NM Rothschild & Sons.

Mr Wilks is the Chairman of Brainchip Inc. (ASX:BRN) and the Chair of Australia’s largest private IT services company, Interactive. He also serves as non-executive director of Sirion Global (part of the HeliosWire IoT satellite group) and of DataDot Technology (ASX:DDT). 


Stephe’s extensive technology leadership, strategic finance, M&A and governance expertise are an important contribution to the development and implementation of the BluGlass commercialisation strategy.


Mr Wilks has Science and Law degrees from Macquarie University and a Master of Laws from the University of Sydney.
